When you’re in Hanoi, you’ll likely buy a tour package to Halong Bay and the surrounding islands. A typical tour takes one night and two days, and costs about 150,000 Vietnamese Dongs, roughly 10USD. This includes all tour services, three meals a day, and you get to choose to spend the night on the boat or on an all inclusive hotel on an island, such as Cat Ba. I just wanted to show you a couple of photos of what a tour boat, also known as a junk, look like.
The following is the tour boat that I took, and I had the priviledge to drive this tour boat. The captain was really cool, since he let me drive this junk on the way back to Hai Phong. He did the docking of course, since that’s the hard part.
Besides the great food provided on this boat, the most wonderful thing was sitting at the top deck feeling the nice breeze as we tour Halong Bay, with manificent views, as you can see in the backdrop of the first photo.
